Yachting in Malta: The Rise and Rise

Yachting in Malta: The Rise and Rise

Millennia of seafaring history, excellent natural harbours, and a strategic position have placed the Maltese Islands firmly on the map when it comes to the berthing and repairing of seacraft. More importantly, the current number of marinas on the island is a clear indication of how boats and yachting in particular are integral to our maritime culture.

The Growth in Malta Yachting Services

With Malta so centrally located in the Mediterranean, easy to reach by plane, and enjoying mild winters and good weather throughout the year, the possibility of holding events in autumn and early winter is not only attractive, but also practical.

For this specific reason, Malta Yachting Services have seen a considerable growth in the interest shown by foreign yachtsmen and sailing organisations as well as private companies. October and November show an increase in Maltese yachting events taking place around the island in part due to the excellent facilities available, from marinas to repair and maintenance services.

What is also capitalising on our good weather are yachting events, which regularly draw an international crowd.

What’s next for Yachting in Malta?

It is more than evident that as far as Maltese yachting events and services go, the way is up. The increase in yachting interest in this island nation is thanks to the ongoing hard work that the related associations put into it. O&S Shipping have been supporting the yachting industry in terms of logistics, customs clearance, and shoreside services since 2008.

Yachting in Malta is not only based on a culture of tradition and a maritime heritage, but is on the rise because of the consistent push for new initiatives, making Malta truly rule the waves.
